Tomato Kuruma

Tomato Kuruma : (தக்காளி குருமா )


About:

This dish is taught by my grandma ,it is a common dish prepared at south side of Tamilnadu. Tomato is a good antioxidant and rich in vitamin A and C. Try it and enjoy :)





Preparation Time : 10 - 15 Mins
Cooking Time    : 10 Mins
Serves           : 2

Ingredients:


  • Turmeric Powder
  • Chilli Powder
  • Salt
  • Oil

To Roast & Grind : 

  • Grated Coconut  - 1 Cup
  • Fennel seeds    - 1/4 tsp
  • Chopped onion  -1 Cup
  • Urad dal            - 2 tsp
  • Ripe Tomato    - 3 nos

For Seasoning:

  • Oil
  • Cinnamon - 1 inch
  • Cardamon -  3 pcs
  • Cloves      - 4 pcs
  • Bay Leaf  - 1
  • Dried Aniseed-2 pcs

Optional:

Mixed Veggie (cut peas,carrot,beans,potato)


Method:

Step 1: Add oil,fennel seeds,urad dal to splutter. Add onion to roast, then add grated coconut. Toss well. 




Step 2: In a separate pan, add oil and tomato and cook till the raw smell of tomato goes.










Step 3:In Mixer add step 1 ingredients , turmeric powder, chilli powder. Grind well with needed water ,then add the roasted tomatoes. Grind it and keep aside.





Step 4:In pan add oil ,cinnamon,cardamon,cloves,bayleaf,dried aniseed and allow it to splutter. Add the mixed veggie, close the pan till the veggie is cooked, then add the grinded paste,salt and allow it to boil well.



 


Serve hot with dosa,idly or chappathi ,Enjoy Eating :)
